Nothing is “irreversible” on this planet. Given enough time, a few tens of thousands of years, say, maybe more, the ice will tie things up once more and sea levels will drop. It’s just irreversible by us, is what folks mean. But that should be no surprise. Plenty of us aren’t even in control of our own bodyweight. If we can’t even control that as a population, how much - honestly - should we shamble around believing we can influence?
